I want to stick a pin in it this year...

I haven't been on a vacation in many years and I always blamed it on my circumstances, and yet I look back now and realize how many opportunities I have lost because of my silliness. This year I want to save a little money each week until I can afford a few nights stay somewhere. I haven't decided where that will be yet, but that is all part of the spontaneity of it. I don't want to go anywhere that is "tourist trap." I would rather stay at a hotel, enjoy a few days out in little towns with little mom and pop shops, and then go back home with a few goodies and a smile on my face. I won't call this a resolution, we all know those do not go as planned...

That sounds like a plan and very doable. It doesn't even have to be a far nor expensive destination . . . a local weekend getaway could be quite enjoyable. Start packing . Happy New Year to you!!

@ScribbledAdNauseum I love those kinds of places - and if you find it locally, you can always go back again soon enough.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Some of my best memories come from travelling those back roads.

My family on both sides all hail from small little towns across North Carolina, Tennesse and Virginia and have thought of just visiting those places. in some, I will find relatives that I haven't seen in years. In others I will be able to visit the burial sites of the ones I never met...
