The Month of January

January was named after the Roman god Janus. What is odd about Janus is that he was always shown with two heads. One head looked back to the last year and one forward to the new one. The month of January was called “Wulfmonath” by the Anglo-Saxons because during the month hungry wolves would come scavenging at people’s doors. Only two Shakespeare plays mention January “Much Ado About Nothing” and “Winter’s Tale”. An interesting thing is that more couples separate or divorce in January than in any other month. January 1st is both the furthest away and closest day to December 31st. How is the month of January going for you? Photo of Janus.

I did not know that about Janus (that he is always shown with two heads.) I don't know as much about Roman mythology as I do Greek, even though I know they are similar. I wonder if more couples separate in January because of the stress of the holidays. That seems to be when couples fight the most. January has been stressful so far for me. Our car broke down and I am having some financial difficulties. Plus I am still anxiously awaiting a date to be set for my surgery.

I sure hope things will get better for you @Srbageldog you are probably right. Couples started fighting about spending money on the holidays and continued into the New Year.

@RasmaSandra Thank you. The car is fixed and didn't cost too much, thankfully. Still waiting on a date for my surgery...at this rate, maybe it will be in summer.
