Life Time Fitness who has a health club in Chanhassen Minnesota has decided to not allow cable news to televise the news events of the day since most of the news is usually bad instead of giving the people some good news. Natalie Bushaw who is the public relations executive of the Life Time Fitness Clubs made a statement that by banning bad news from being televised at all of the Life Time Fitness clubs, the persons who use the facility need to have a good atmosphere to workout and watch television shows that are family friendly.

Sounds like a good move. We do not need all the negativity

@Deepizzaguy Yes they are. They are poisonous to the mind.

@Deepizzaguy I guess that's true but it's also harmful and dangerous these days to not be informed about what's going on in the nation and the world.

A good idea. But what to play instead besides sports?

@Deepizzaguy That's fine for those who like that sort of thing but I'd find it boring. Some things on Discovery are interesting but require more attention than just having a cable news channel on and being able to read the headlines on the screen.

@anniepa I agree with you since if I went to a health club, I would go just to work out and not pay attention to the television shows on the box.

I don't know, I find myself working out with extra gusto when I'm hearing about something on the news that infuriates me. It gets my blood boiling and my heart racing. Of course, there'a probably also the question of arguments and even physical fights breaking out among patrons when certain divisive individuals are brought up...

Well, it’s a start. When I belonged to a fitness club I noticed most people had iPods or some other music device and weren’t really paying attention to the TV. I don’t know why they have TVs (some of the Planet Fitness clubs I went to around the country had individual TVs on the treadmills!), but I guess some people will never exercise if they can’t watch the tube.

Our local YMCA has individual TVs on all the exercise machines and many people take their own earphones.
