All It Can Do Is Whine!

I made a short shopping list today. I need to get some soup and a lamp for my sewing area and a few other assorted items. I got bundled up in layers so that I wouldn't get too cold on my trek out into the wintry wonderland. I get into the car. I put the key in the ignition slot. Turned the key. Whinnnnnnnnnne. I tried again. Whinnnnnnnnne. I tried a third time. Whinnnnnnnne. Took the key out of the ignition and came back in. Crap.

Is it extra cold out there? If so maybe you need to give it a little gas while starting it up. Or if that doesnt work maybe you need a jump. I hope its not a battery or alternator issue
