Work from home?

What legitimate companies do you work for from home? If not companies how did you get into your freelance niche? What was the hardest part for transitioning from working somewhere to staying home? I have been on the job hunt since July for a work at home gig. Typically I browse Rat Race Rebellion. I have yet to come across anything solid. I did transcript for a while. But that really is too much work for the pay. I would receive around $6-$7 per hour. Minimum wage is $10.50 here so you can see that isn't much money at all. I tried researching for Wonder, the pay is good but there are rarely any projects. Im lucky to make $10-$20 for the day. I am not complaining, but just sharing my experience so far. I would love to be a virtual assistant. All the jobs require prior virtual assistance experience. Does anyone know where to start in that field? I signed up on Fivver but no luck so far! Share your thoughts!

This might seem like a dumb question but how do you become a transcriptor? what do you have to do exactly? With my job, i'm up all night and there is alot of down time so I'm looking for other things to do with that time that I could possibly make some money from. :)

Visit rat race rebellion, there are tons of transcript sites. Most have you perform a sample one, all you need is good headphones. And then once you're in your can pick from a list of audios or videos.

With Fiverr, the pay is unlimited... there are a lot of people making thousands a month on Fiverr. However, it takes a lot of time and effort getting your gig to that earning point. You have to get a lot of exposure to your gig and offer something that is popular. Amazon Mechanical Turk (MTurk) is a good freelancing site. I personally like Microworkers, it's a micro job site where you do small tasks for 20 cents, 30 cents, 80 cent, etc... I've seen it up to $20, but not many. It would be hard to reach minimum wage with this, but it's nice, easy extra cash.

@taciaelisepeace I had a little success before, doing transcription work, but I left for a while and deleted my good gigs, when I went back it was like I first joined all over again. You really have to work your way up.

@MikesAngel317 Yeah I noticed that. Im sure after a while you get used to it. I just find it a little frustrating at times.
