When You Live In A High Rise, You Will Occasionally See This Sign.

This was from back in December, so of course the elevator has been fixed, but notes like this are not uncommon when one lives in a building like mine. I live on the 11th (top) floor, so I'd better pray that at least one of the two is working. The other one did, but in a building with 90 apartments with an average of twp residents apiece, there was a 10 minute wait if one wanted to get off of their floor...unless they lived on the ground floor. That particular elevator was out of order for around a week. Good thing there are two, but most of us wish there were at least three. At our favourite hotel in Toronto there are four, for 18 floors. On the plus side, we do have a pool and a tennis court, and a beautiful balcony with a fantastic city view. Except when the elevator breaks down, I really love living here. Anyone else live in a high rise? What do you like and dislike about it?

I don't think I could live in a high rise....or even an apartment building. Thirty years ago we lived in a townhouse for seven months....that was six and a half months more than needed to know that we prefer a home in the countryside.

it's in times like this that I am happy that I don't live in a high rise. Not sure if I could really do it, but that's just me.

my preference would be on the 5th floor so it's high enough, yet still manageable (up or down) in case the elevator is out of order, or other emergencies.

Elevators are a big reason why I would not live in a high rise.
