Update on other updates

Before I had a modem-router disconnection problem last weekend, I wanted you to give you an update on other things lately. Better late than never though. So I'm going to break it down, bit by bit.
1. Let's start off with my writing and my novels like Venom. Before Christmas, that editor who asked for a partial via the contest had upgraded it to a full. And an agent asked for a mini Revise and Resubmit on Venom's first chapter, since originally I've closed her out last summer. It turned out I've misspelled a letter in her first name in my query and she never received it until then. Other than personalized feedback, I've sent her my first chapter and now waiting for response. She responded initially on my nudge for my query on Chain Reaction, my 2nd manuscript, and still waiting to hear back. I've thought my revamped chapter one I've done last fall was better. But I've revised it one last time to make it more active with help from my friend who's also an editor. So I'm hoping this would clench more requests from agents this year and possibly lead to offers real soon. Also, I've done with the final 70 pages to edit Venom, the final 5.5 chapters to go. Then I'll turn it over to my editor friend to look it over for me for free next month and then I'll send it over to those agents and editors for a long waiting period to read my full manuscript, typically 3-6 months. When I get there, I'll do a post to let you know real soon.
2. Here's a brief update on Upwork, too. Three weeks ago, I've sent a message to my two previous clients to ask for new work. I did hear back from my first client. She gave me my 11th assignment, regular to post and not ghost-written. It was an adult techno-thriller. It was okay, though it had some issues. I gave it three stars and turned it into her. Lucky for me, when I thought I had to post my average review to Amazon, Good Reads and Barnes and Noble like I normally do for her reviews, I didn't, when I've heard back from her last week. She gave me my 2nd assignment, a sequel to the second book I've read and reviewed to her last year, the YA dystopian sci fi book. I'm a third through and will finish it by this Thursday. According to my client, the author requested me to read and review his book, which is a first for me. He must've liked my 4-star review I gave him last fall. Since I had to pay $1 via Amazon to buy the book, she included a dollar to my payment this week. And this would give me my first $ 100 payout for this year next week. As for my 2nd client, I did nudge him. He said he would get back to me, though work orders are still being slow for reviews. Maybe this spring. I'll also hold off on creating new contracts to my previous clients from last spring and fall for awhile.
3. As for Wylie, he's doing much better with going to the bathroom and drinking plenty of water to avoid having constipation again. The two weeks were up last Wednesday for treating hi with his prescribed stool softener medication. I still have plenty of medicine left, just in case he caterwauls even after the litter box again. He still jumps on tables and caterwauls, just not as loud. He did bang on the closet at least once, perhaps it was behavorial as I first thought.
4. Since we're having mild and crazy winter weather like this week, it might cut my gym break short than planned. It all depends on what the weather would be in the morning and night. It might be half-days like I would return to yoga or Pilates. Like tomorrow for example, 60% chance of rain tomorrow morning at 44 degrees, cloudy at 3 PM and then 55% chance of rain tomorrow afternoon at 5 PM. So I might return to Pilates only and get a ride home from Michelle if she's there.
That's about it for the updates for now. Sorry so long.

It sounds like things are going well for you. May I ask why you did not go the self publishing route? That seems to be much simpler!

@KristenH I don;t think it costs money to self publish on Amazon or Smashwords..Did you check it out?

@snowy22315 I would take a look at it as a backup plan. I did check the response times for those agents and editors for full response times. Varies from 1 month to 6 months, though for editors I can't submit my fulls to others at that time.

Pretty much this year. Self-publishing is a last resort for me, the furthest thing on my mind. I would only do it, if things don't work out well with agents and editors. Yes it is, but it costs money to self-pub a book on your own. I don't have that kind of money. As long as I have agent/editor interest, I can solidify my dreams into a reality real soon.

You seem to be a busy writer and reviewer. Nice!!! Keeping busy is always a good thing to do. I have been toying with the idea of having some of my writings published. I was thinking on trying my hand at getting my poetry published first. But I never did anything like that before so it would be a whole new thing for me. Good luck on your ventures.

@inertia4 Well for starters, you need to check online for poetry ezines and literary journals. Poetry Market book from Writers Digest is how I got started with poetry a decade ago. If you have a collection of poetry, try chapbooks or poetry books.
