A Boost to my Writing

As I have mentioned before, I do live streaming on the app live.me. I also watch a lot of other people do streams there. One of my favourites is a band called The Stillwinter. They don't perform on the site. They do a whole lot of other things that engage all viewers with word games and fake ceremonies like knightings and marriages. On Sunday morning I was watching the stream of another person who frequents The Stillwinter broadcasts. He was an old British chap. I told him that I had writing group that afternoon and he asked me if perhaps I would be writing about the Stillwinters. I just laughed it off. But went I got my prompts at writing group I decided to take one of the prompts and write about them. It's only15 minutes of flash fiction but it turned out pretty good. The next time The Stillwinter broadcasted I told them I had written a story about them. They expressed very loudly how much they wanted to see the story. So today I typed up the story and emailed it to them. I got the following email back: OMG patgalca! This is too funny. It's like 90% correct too, which makes it even better, hilarious, awesome. This is excellent. We loved every word from start to finish!!!! No joke. Super cool!!!! We would totally buy this book! When they went live today I chatted (through typing) about it. They again expressed how much they loved it. I asked if I could post it on our writing group's website and they gave me a very firm 'yes' and asked if they could post it on THEIR website. Of course I said yes. What a boost this was for my self-esteem and my writing. Add to that I have had two calls for submissions from publishers magically appear in my Twitter feed over the past week. Okay, I can take a hint. Get that book finished! I am so thrilled with the response I got. They said I had their characters down to a Tee. I had one character in there who I had only ever seen once. The story was about a basement in which they could rehearse which they said they don't have a basement but a "back house". That was pretty much the only part I got wrong. Even the presence of ghosts was accurate, they say.

Am I allowed to put a link on here? It's not for money making. Maybe I'll post the story itself on another post.

That's awesome. You should self publish it.

My current novel is Romantic Thriller with more thriller than romance. My first novel (on the shelf gathering dust) is what is now termed as New Adult. I have an idea for a paranormal type romance and a sequel for my current novel.

@patgalca Cool! I'm doing one too, still working on my Nano ms. I just need to add some romance into my thriller in edits. Nice!

@KristenH I hope you have much more luck and motivation than I have. I've spent too much time NOT working on my writing.

It depends on what you want to do. Some people use it for chatting and a platform. Others use it as a game. Others for entertainment. Others for making money. A lot of people use it without even streaming but it's best if you will stream. It took me a couple of months to gather up the nerve to live stream. I just went around making myself noticed by everyone and following and gaining followers. There are different levels to reach as well.

@db20747 You earn points, people send you gifts worth "diamonds" which if you are good enough you can cash out. But most are putting the diamonds back into the app.
