Yea. People often share the latest fashion they are wearing in a selfie pic on Facebook or Twitter or Instagram. But wait. It's not that there is anything wrong with looking good for all your fans, friends, followers and family. Giving away your location where you take those pics is dangerous for this simple reason. The clever follower, who is looking to score your latest BLING BLANG could end up being the worst thing for you and the best thing for the predator online who is looking for an easy mark. Case in point. A woman who likes to post selfies very frequently on social media, always proud of her latest material accomplishments who also enjoys the feedback from friends and followers might easily have given away more information than she realized. If you take notice, Social media is a way to get you found. It is a good way for the powers that be can keep track of how you spend both your time and your money. Although working full time and being independent, one night, coming home after a very long day at the office, she sees the door has been prized open and all of her valuable possessions ransacked and or missing. The person, the suspect in this home forced entry burglary might well be a follower on social media, who is looking for those who feel safe while chatting online. Oh. Well, the locks will be replaced with new ones, the broken doors will be replaced, but if there had been less selfies taken, less bragging about all those fancy clothes and styles and giving away your favorite hangouts, that all lead the criminal to your doorstep. It's not enough to buy a security system and have your home monitored 24/7, but that helps. It is hind sight. Look where you are and remember, when posting images and information on social media sites don't give yourself away. For all the 99 percent good people who like your posts, there only has to be 1 % who is setting back and waiting for you to give away your location, your wealth, and unfortunately, these are the times we are living in.

Muggers are out there and they do tend to prey on the unsuspecting innocent ones. That is why I value the practice of the law and police officers are our first line of defense against pick pockets, muggers, and such.

@aureliah , They probabaly do but they are likely acting out of desperation, not reason.

@lookatdesktop The worst part with muggers is that they dont care whether you are elderly or young. I wonder if they have a heart.

I like posting my new craft items on instagram but my account is on private mode which means only those who are following me can see them! I would sometimes post my latest purchases or presents given to me but not on the same exact date and time I got them. It would take me days before I do that on instagram only. It doesn't give away my location at all.

@lookatdesktop I belive in instagram's privacy than facebook. I have been using it since it began back in the days when it was an app exclusively for iOS users only. It changed a lot from the time it was acquired by facebook.

I'd never trust those stuff on Facebook. A lot of them seems to be scam.
