Professional or Free?

I would love to start my own blog.
First, I am not all that good with computer tech stuff. I need easy stuff..
Then, I have heard that with professional blogs you can make money, as opposed to free blogs that prohibit.
Following, I do not have a niche decided yet, either.
So, I am wondering what your experiences have been with personal blogs.
Should I start a paid professional blog or a free blog?
Thank you in advance!

I'm not sure what you mean by a professional blog. Do you mean a self-hosted blog you have to pay the expenses for? Or do you mean writing for a site like Hubpages that has to approve your work before publication, has ways you can earn with what you write, allows you to publish for free, takes care of all the site maintenance and has forums and other ways the writers on the site can help and support each other? If you are really new, I'd suggest a site like HubPages that will help you learn how to write a good post until you develop the confidence and skills to go out on your own.
If you don't want any rules or interference, get a self-hosted WordPress blog, but before investing in one, I'd recommend getting your feet wet on Blogger. It does allow you to monetize, and at the present time it's still free. I got my start on Squidoo, which was sold to HubPages. Between the two groups I met lots of other writers who later started their own blogs and we still find ways to help each other on various FB groups started for that purpose. I'd never recommend starting a blog as a lone wolf if you see it as more than a hobby.
I am editing this after leaving to check your profile. I see you're already a freelancer, so you have published online. I have published a lot on my blogs I cannot duplicate here, but if you want the links, let me know. I'm following you now.

@Spontaneo The big difference is that a blog is an independent enterprise. You have to decide yourself what topics to write about and whether they will drawn an audience. You also have the independence to monetize as you wish if you self-host.

I do have skills & confidence. I am a chief editor, editor and contributing writer. So, I guess you can say I am experienced. I just wondered what all of you thought about blogging.

Hey my friend! I say start your own professional blog and strive to make some money. I am in the process of setting up my blog (hopefully it will be launched very soon). Now, it is a lot of hard work to setup especially if you work, have a family, etc. but I am committed to this project. Good luck!
