Microsoft Excel White Screen of Death: Not Responding

I have a trauma with "not responding" issue with MS Excel. Although I am hooked on using Google Spreadsheet, from time to time I still use my 2013 MS suite.
With over 12,000 rows, MS excel will always encounter a not responding issue whenever I do filters and the like. I just wish nothing bad will happen along the process.
Back in 2012, I had some important data corrupted due to a not responding issue, as well, though I used an older office suite version back then!

@primeaque86 , It it works, use it. Sometimes keeping is simple is the best. I am looking for something that would be like Microsoft Works used to be back in the day, as a stand alone Windows Word processor. Do you know if Word perfect is still available as a stand alone word processor for a Windows based PC?
