I am doing my inventory on a MS Excel 2013 because I thought it would be faster to work offline with more than 12,000 rows of data.
However, every time I filter some range of data, excel will not respond - the usual not responding error that would last for some couple of minutes...
Today, I have decided to upload my unfinished inventory on my Google Drive. My drive automatically converts MS Excel to Google Sheets (I have done that on the setting).
Now, I have tried filtering and doing similar things on it and it works perfectly fine and fast... no waiting time.
So the clear winner is Google Sheet!
FYI: Even if I am disconnected with the internet sometimes, I can still continue to work because I have enabled offline editing. The data syncs automatically once I am back online.
The best part with Google Sheet, it's 100% free.
Space? Google gives 15GB free. I have a 100GB subscription.

@primeaque86 No, I rarely bother with online office systems.
