An opinion about life

There are people who believe that karmas leave an effect on life. I believe that this is right. I have read about this in different texts such as , a chapter based on Buddhism in my 12th class history book mentioning that our karmas play an important role in our life . I have seen this in many circumstances . Does any one believe that our luck and not our karmas lead us to our destiny?
