on jars and bottles? I do. Oftentimes I have to ask my husband to open a jar for me. My girls will tell you how one time we ate our pasta with butter and parmesan cheese because I couldn't open the sauce.

Yes I've had my share of trouble with this. I picked up a little tool that almost looks like an old fashion bottle opener. It's designed especially for jars and bottles to help break the seal of the lid. I use that, pop and then I can open it without a problem. It cost me a whole $3 I think at the time and trust me it was worth it. It pays for itself with saving me a lot of frustration.

Jars and bottles both. Especially if my hands are wet or oily. Sometimes I tap the bottom of the bottle. I'mnot sure what it does but it seems to help.

Me too. I tap the bottom, and the side of the lid, and use my shirt to cushio my hand when I "try" to turn the lid. Then I'll swallow my pride and ask my husband.

I here you there, my hubby is the offical bottle, jar opener in my house. But if he is not readily available then I just wrap my largest wooden handle knife with my dishcloth and I gently tap in the direction it is suposed to open and tap all around sometimes several times it breaks the seal or soemtimes loosens it enough for me to open it.
