I am preparing for Bariatric Surgery I have Hypothyroidism after 8 years of gaining weight in spite of exercise, walking and caring for small children and a home. I felt tired all the time and my weight went from 132 to 178 lbs. They finally found out I had Hypothyroidism. I still tried to keep my weight down. But two surgeries and injuries to my knees as well and a broken foot I gained more weight. I am 68 and doctors tried me on 3 weight loss programs I followed and I would lose 15-25 lbs but regain it. I don't eat a lot and eat healthy and have not gained for 2 years but I am 318 lbs and too much for my body and knees. I found I have bursitis as well in 2014 of both hips, losing weight will help with that. I also have Fibromyalgia and losing weight will help with that as well. I live very rural and in the mountains and have no one to walk with much anymore. It is not safe to walk alone due to we have cougar and bear around and moose that can be dangerous. Town is 22 miles to the Y or other places so 44 miles round trip and to go 3 times a week to exercise, mostly swim as doctors advised is not cost effective because the gas prices eat it up plus cost of the gym and I don't drive at night anymore and hubby likes me home for dinner time and is too tired to go after. So after lots of research, discussing with my doctors and family I am getting ready for Bariatric Surgery I am on Facebook groups with people who had it and go to a support group where I live. I learned last month I also have a grade 3 Hiatal Hernia as well so that too contributed to inability to lose the weight I needed. I don't eat a lot of sweets in fact don't much like them any more a small nibble really goes a long way. I have been to almost all my post surgery appointments I have one or maybe two more. I have to pay 20% of the surgery bill which my cost is $497 and I have that. But I also have to pay $1379 to the hospital before surgery. I am supposed to have it in April but it might be May. Depending when we get the income tax refund which part will go for the surgery and hospital bill. If April I want it after our 48th Wedding Anniversary which is April 12th and I hope early May as it will take 6-8 weeks to heal and also have to eat liquids the first 2-3 weeks then go to soft foods. The biggest thing I have to eat is protein and 4-6 times a day. I can do this as already doing it. I expect to lose about 145-165 lbs. In about 18 months and it is a life changing things I am planning to have what is known as the sleeve. Has anyone else had this surgery and if so how did it work for you? Everyone I have seen and talked to have had nothing but good to say about it and the results are promising and positive. Once I know I have surgery scheduled I will post a me now photo and date of surgery and from then as I lose weight my progress. If anyone has had this surgery what tips do you have or suggestions.

As losing and gaining weight is not your fault but your thyriod and your medical condition, I suggest you to not focus so much on your weigh. I have a simple reason to say it. You can do everything, but the result will be disappointing. I hope that your surgery will be all right and you will feel better!
