Well well well. We have reached #5 in my countdown of my favorite record producers: Jim Steinman. As a producer, Jim Steinman has worked wonders with what I think is an over the top production style. Yet it fits the artists that he has produced. Among the album's produced by Steinman: Faster than the Speed of Night (on which he wrote the mega smash hit, "Total Eclipse of the Heart," by Bonnie Tyler,) Signs of Life by Billy Squire, Bat Out of Hell II: Back into Hell by Meatloaf, and Original Sin by Pandora's Box. Additionally, Steinman has produced hit songs such as "Making Love Out of Nothing at All" by Air Supply, "Holding Out for a Hero" by Bonnie Tyler, and "It's All Coming Back to Me Now" by Celine Dion. Despite all of that, Jim Steinman makes this countdown on the basis of three songs that he produced for goth legends The Sisters of Mercy: "Dominion/Mother Russia," "This Corrosion" and "More." And Steinman's over the top production style fits The Sisters' sound like a glove. What can I say? Those are three of my favorite songs. And I have Steinman to thank for that!

I sort of suspected he made the list because of Sisters of Mercy not that you are overly fond of them or anything.

It's one of the all-time great goth songs. But if you don't listen to goth, odds are you wouldn't have heard it.

Everything from Steinman is over the top. He could’ve made major production numbers out of a Jim Croce song. Not criticizing, though, because we do need producers like him.

@teamfreak16 — he wrote that song, too, so that was an extra help.

He certainly made Air Supply sound tolerable.
