Favorite Robert Palmer Songs #8 - "Pride"

I'm already about burned out on Robert Palmer. Yeah, like that could ever happen! We are at #8 in my countdown of my favorite songs by the late vocalist: "Pride." "Pride" is the title track from Robert Palmer's 1983 album, which was not as commercially successful as previous Palmer efforts (not my fault: I've owned it on both cassette and CD!) Musically ambitious, Robert Palmer was all over the place, and "Pride" was no exception, an exercise in Caribbean music, with lots of fun steel drums and Caribbean percussion. (Fun Fact: Just how valuable was Palmer's musical tastes? One of my favorite bands is The Comsat Angels, who once suddenly found themselves without a recording contract. Asked in an interview what he was listening to, Palmer answered that he enjoyed The Comsat Angels' album, Five Day Weekend. Island Records honcho Chris Blackwell immediately signed the band based upon that answer.) I've linked to the official "Pride" video. There is a good live performance from the British television show, The Tube, on You Tube, but I went with the video because it has the steel drums. Enjoy! (A musical visit to the Caribbean info verified by Wikipedia)

For some reason, it wasn't released as a single.

@spiderdust - It's weird how they make videos but don't release a single for songs.

Yeah, it's really easy to burn out on this guy, he was so marginal. And this song is marginal(ly fantastic).

@teamfreak16 -- me, neither. You're stuck with it. Go look for clues as to why you started it.

He was boring. I don't even know why I started a series on him.

I was burnt out on Robert Palmer the first time I heard him. But I remember him from the '80s.
