After reading TRs post about a MASH actor who just passed away and finding out that David Ogden Stires had lived in Newport , Oregon , I got inspired to see what other notable people were from or currently live in Oregon. So you can thank @TRBRocks420 for the inspiration for this post.
This will more than likely be a series, even though I am really bad at them. I never keep up with them. But anyway, without further ado. Here's the first few notable people from Oregon.
-James Beard, who lived from 1903-1985 was from Oregon. If you're a foodie you probably recognize his name. He was a quite famous and we'll known chef and food journalist. Beard was born in Portland, Oregon but later moved to New York City where he passed away in 1985.
-Chris Botti, who was born in 1963. Botti is a trumpeter and composer. He was the leader of the house band on the daytime talk show The Caroline Rhea talk show, which is where I was first introduced to him. He too was born in Portland.
-Peter Buck, the lead guitarist of R.E.M. I imagine @JolietJake and @JohnRoberts recognized who we was before I even said he was. In the ninties Buck split his time partially in Portland. See Portland isn't just for Hippies, it's for alternative rockers too!
-Ty Burrell, who is a very recognizable actor. He is probably most we'll known for being on Modern Family, but has also lent his voice to recent movies The Storks and Finding Dory. He was born in Grants Pass, Oregon and attended two different Oregon Colleges.
Well there you have it the first part of this series. I hope to keep it up because it's fun to learn people that were born or lived in the state that I grew up in. Ty Burell was definitely a surprise to me.
Stay tuned for part two soon.

Many notable people were born in Oregon. Big movie stars from the past like Kim Novak and Jane Powell. The infamous skater Tonya Harding (the movie I, Tonya). Lisa Rinna. Gergory Harrison. Many sports stars. Linus Pauling.

I know Steve Miller moved up there in the 70s. I don't know if he still lives there, though.

Ty Burrell is the only name I know. But didn't know he was from there. Interesting.
