My tot's birthday is coming up in a few weeks and it's making me uncomfortable that my in-laws have decisions of their own when my husband and I told them about our plans for our tot's birthday party. They are insisting of a party venue which we already said doesn't suit our taste.

Stay firm. It's your child! If they become cross, let them be cross. The main thing is that your husband is on your side and not on his parents' side.
