Christian McCaffrey who is a running back for the Carolina Panthers can now add to his resume the role of hero when he was taking a hike with his brothers Dylan and Max and friends at Castle Rock in Colorado. Christian witnessed Eli Smoker, 13, who was hiking with his grandfather Dan Smoker Senior when Dan fell down 20 feet onto a rock below. McCaffrey called the emergency services on his cellphone to report the incident. The emergency rescue team came to the area where Smoker Senior fell down within 11 minutes. By the time McCaffrey was able to attend Dan Smoker Senior who is 72 years of age, he appeared to them in a lifeless motion. McCaffrey and his relatives prayed for the recovery of Dan who then was taken to a hospital where is in critical but stable condition with a broken femur, pelvis, internal bleeding, bleeding on the brain, a broken neck and fractured ribs. McCaffrey went to the hospital to check on the condition of Dan where he saw Dan Junior who is Eli's father who were surprised that a Carolina Panthers football player was part of the rescue team of Dan Senior as of Tuesday. The funny thing is that many people do not recognize football players without their football gear when they are their down time.

What A neat story, thanks for sharing. Nice to see good people do good things at risk to their career and personal safety. Not even the average retailer would take that chance.

It's good he was there to help and get emergency services out right away. He has a lot of injuries. I hope he can recover from them.

Me too since the grandfather deserves to spend more time with his relatives.

I read about that. It sounded very scary. And I love football, but if Christian McCaffrey walked by me I would not know him from Adam.

@Deepizzaguy I can recognize any quarterback, but that's about it.

There are a lot football players and ice hockey players that the average person would not know from Adam as you have stated.

Christian will be adored by Panthers fans in 2018 when they resume their football season in the fall.
