Persistent

I am so persistent now to know if the 2 letters are indeed still in the post office. I keep on bothering the employees of the office since a few days ago. Several minutes past, I phoned again and a certain Miss Angel answered my call. She said the postman is sick, and again asked for my landline number. I asked if the postman is the one in charge of segregating the mails in each area of our city. She replied YES. I thought the post office have but a few employees now, ever since it became a semi-private government agency. The postman segregates the letters then delivers the letters in all 43 areas of our city. Can you beat that? Besides, a requirement for being a postman is, he should have his own motorcycle. Are you persistent when you have something you want it done immediately?

I am persistent but no insistent. I try not to be rude also but agreeable when they have reasonable excuses.

of course there is a difference between persistence and insisting. i don't insist if i know that my reasons are not right. it is not really my style. i can just be humble and accept my mistake.

@ridingbet I persist. I tend to withdraw when I think the other party would feel insulted by my insisting. I just choose another time to continue.

There's only one person to deliver the mail? I would think there would be enough people to deliver the mail to all those 43 cities. I used to be persistent about it, but not anymore.

@ridingbet That does make a difference for the location. I'm sure e-mail has a lot to do with how much mail goes through the post office today.

@just4him i have to rectify something here. there are actually 49 localities in our city, so you can just imagine the work our lone postman does to deliver the mails.

unfortunately, yes there is only one delivering the mails. i believe this is because there is the internet and emails that reduces the communication through or mails and there are just a few compared to many, who use the snail, registered, ordinary, or air mails. also, it is not 43 cities, but 43 localities or what we call 'barangay'. a 'barangay' is like a village or a small locality.

Only for things I consider important. Of course everyone assigns their own importance to things. Life is short and I want to enjoy it so I don't stress the small stuff.

that is true. i also insisted on letting my students submit their requirements, and that is how persistent i am. last week, i had the requirements of the 3 students who did not submit their papers on time. i gave them extension, but one still did not. Miss T insisted yesterday to submit her requirements but i said "no, because i have already made your grades and submitted them in the office now".

@magallon yes, if teachers are so lenient, it is possible that the students will take advantage of the leniency of the teacher. that is why they should submit their requirements on time.

I think the postman should have their motorcycle.

yes that is a requirement now. the postman should have his own vehicle, but i am not quite sure if he receives money for the gasoline. if not, i think his salary is below the minimum wage
