What is Automatic Handwriting?

Are you familiar with the term - AUTOMATIC HANDWRITING - ? Well I once read a book about that topic. Apparently you allow yourself to hold a pen or pencil on a pad of blank white paper and wait until your hand virtually starts to move across the paper automatically, in the same type of way that hands on the OUIJA BOARD do, when many people sit at a table with hands on the pointer. Of course this does not make any sense. It is mainly a cult like action, or psychic action. Any way you spell it, it is something that I do not want to participate in yet my curiosity has sent me down a few rabbit holes searching for the truth about the nature and the origins of Automatic Handwriting. Here is a YouTube of some young people experimenting for the first time with it. They may or may not be pulling a fast one on us. But you be the judge. Give my your opinion on this topic. I am interested in finding out if it is the real deal or just a fanciful hoax that lets the imagination go out of control.
