Favorite "Door" Songs #7 - "Doors of Your Heart"

There is a bus driver here in Colorado Springs that always says "Hang on, we're rolling" as he leaves each stop. Well, hang on, we're rolling, as my countdown of my favorite songs with "door" in the title continues. We are at #7: "Doors of Your Heart" by The Beat (known as The English Beat here in the States.) Along with Madness and The Specials, The Beat led the ska revival of the 1980's, despite only releasing three albums before imploding. There are actually more Beat compilations available than proper Beat albums. The Beat did release 15 singles during their short time together, one of which was "Doors of Your Heart," the leadoff track of their 1981 album, Wha'happen? Like most of that record, "Doors of Your Heart" is a slow departure from the frantic energy of earlier tunes such as "Mirror in the Bathroom," and "Twist and Crawl." This is due, in part, to a letter that an American woman wrote to the band, stating that she liked to try to incorporate the group's songs into her fitness classes, but found them too fast. "Doors of Your Heart" performed decently, reaching #33 in the UK. I've linked to the official video. Dave Wakeling and Ranking Roger share vocal duties, and Saxa's sweet saxophone play shines. Enjoy!
