Effect of Group Home Living on young adults entering care

My son entered a group home at the age of 34 for many good and valid reasons. We have noticed in the first 6-months of him living in the home that he is not as mentally focused as he was when he entered the home. My wife and I have a good relationship with the home, see our son regularly and speak to him several times each day. He participates in family events, holidays and vacations. After spending the night with us last night he was scheduled for a doctor's appointment this morning (regularly scheduled dentist appointment). This morning he couldn't find his glasses (they were in his pocket) and he couldn't remember the last time he had them on (all day yesterday). He lost is wallet saying he hadn't had it in several days even though he told his mom that he had the wallet when she picked him up yesterday. His walled was in his suitcase. When asked this morning if he had cleaned the sink after shaving he told mom and dad separately that "yes I did". The sink had not been emptied, water was everywhere, his razor and shaving cream let on the counter. This behavior was not apparent to us when he entered the home. We believe our son functions at a level that might be slightly higher that the other four residents of the home and wonder if the changes our son exhibits is the result of living to a different expectation. I am hopeful that someone has experienced similar behavior and can share their experiences with me
