Day 2 Nahum 2 Nahum 2:1 He that dashes in pieces is come up before thy face: keep the munition, watch the way, make thy loins strong, fortify thy power mightily. 2 For the LORD hath turned away the excellency of Jacob, as the excellency of Israel: for the emptiers have emptied them out, and marred their vine branches. 3 The shield of his mighty men is made red, the valiant men are in scarlet: the chariots shall be with flaming torches in the day of his preparation, and the fir trees shall be terribly shaken. 4 The chariots shall rage in the streets, they shall jostle one against another in the broad ways: they shall seem like torches, they shall run like the lightnings. 5 He shall recount his worthies: they shall stumble in their walk; they shall make haste to the wall thereof, and the defense shall be prepared. 6 The gates of the rivers shall be opened, and the palace shall be dissolved. 7 And Huzzab shall be led away captive, she shall be brought up, and her maids shall lead her as with the voice of doves, tabering upon their breasts. 8 But Nineveh is of old like a pool of water: yet they shall flee away. Stand, stand, shall they cry; but none shall look back. 9 Take ye the spoil of silver, take the spoil of gold: for there is none end of the store and glory out of all the pleasant furniture. 10 She is empty, and void, and waste: and the heart melts, and the knees smite together, and much pain is in all loins, and the faces of them all gather blackness. 11 Where is the dwelling of the lions, and the feeding place of the young lions, where the lion, even the old lion, walked, and the lion’s whelp, and none made them afraid? 12 The lion did tear in pieces enough for his whelps, and strangled for his lionesses, and filled his holes with prey, and his dens with ravin. 13 Behold, I am against thee, says the LORD of hosts, and I will burn her chariots in the smoke, and the sword shall devour thy young lions: and I will cut off thy prey from the earth, and the voice of thy messengers shall no more be heard. Have you wanted to see vengeance enacted against your enemies, those who always came against you and caused you pain and humiliation? Throughout the Bible, God told his people he would bring vengeance on their enemies. They would have their day, and they would be destroyed. God told Nahum, Nineveh would be destroyed, and his people would enjoy the spoils of destruction. As Christians, your greatest enemy is Satan, who comes to seek and devour as a roaring lion, everyone who calls on the name of Jesus. God promised Satan’s total destruction as well, just as he promised the destruction of Nineveh. One day Jesus will lead his armies, against Antichrist, and destroy him and his armies. Satan will then be sentenced for eternity to the Lake of Fire and Brimstone. Nineveh would never rise again, and according to history, she hasn’t. Nineveh was the capital of Assyria, an enemy of Israel. God gave Nineveh an opportunity to turn from her wickedness, when he sent Jonah to prophesy to them, and he had to be coerced to go there. Nineveh temporarily repented, and God stayed his hand against Nineveh. However, the day of her destruction came. For now, Satan is allowed to roam the earth, seducing all those who will listen to him and reject Jesus as Savior and Lord. However, the day is coming when Jesus will return, and will go against Satan, and he will be no more. 1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour: 9 Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. Everyone who comes against God, will see their day of destruction, just as Nineveh did. Let’s pray: Father, thank you for showing me your love and saving me from eternal separation from you. Help me keep my eyes on you, knowing you will come against those who come against me. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Copyright © 26 March 2018 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay

I like the message, Valerie. It is a reminder that we people must be more aware of the evil lurking around. We are in a vulnerable state that it is easy for evil to destroy us. This is an eye-opener as we see the state this world is currently in.

So true! I just went to a biblical museum. They showed Satan as a human because they wanted to point out he and evil are there everyday in our normal life and we have gone complacent to not see him as bad.

Very true. No one should ever come against God if they need success in life. Thank you Valerie.
