Can England win the World Cup?

England drew 1-1 with Italy tonight in an international football friendly and beat Holland 1-0 in Amsterdam last Friday as teams prepare for this summer’s World Cup in Russia. It was our first win in Holland since 1967 and only a late equalising penalty denied England their first win at Wembley against Italy since 1977. But the amazing thing about these two games is both Holland and Italy didn’t not qualify for the World Cup. It was the first time Italy had not made the World Cup for 60 –years. They have won the World Cup four times and made the final six times. The writing was on the wall though as Italy failed to get out of the group stages in the last Two World Cups. Holland are also in decline and failed to qualify for the European Championships in 2016, the second biggest International tournament for international European teams. England has qualified and has not lost a home game in qualification for the two big tournaments since 2009 and ready for Russia. But even with two big teams not going we have little chance as we, too, are in sharp decline. In any one week of the Premier League barely 40 England players are in the twenty teams, and some of those are not the best. But we all look forward to World Cup and can only dream England don’t choke like they do every time. Amazingly Spain beat Messi's Argentina 6-1 tonight!
