Once upon a time there existed a room. In the room lived a bunch of crazy misfits. There they are, see them in the distance ... “the brain, the athlete, the basket case, the princess and the criminal”{ly}* insane, the socialite, the political activist, the mother hen and the chatty one. They laugh with each other, support each other, learn each others quirks and foibles. They play pranks and sometimes they argue. They never win the Lottery together, and they put the world to rights from the safety of Little Room at End of Long Corridor. One day a Big Bad Wolf came along and turned their environment upside-down and inside-out. He blew Little Room to Smithereens, where they set up home in Much Bigger Room, and had to talk to people who spoke a different language to them. This topsy-turvy-ness made them sad and gradually the bunch of crazy folk started leaving. The athlete, the political activist, the chatty one ... POOF!!! They travelled to pastures new, where the grass is greener. This week they say a fond farewell to the brain. Off he trots, to live in a peaceful, stress-free world by the sea. *wave goodbye* Nine become Five, and the earth continues to spawn life. This is not yet The End. ----- ----- ----- We went for a meal last night, just us, from long-gone Little Room. We laughed, we reminisced, we put the world to rights ... It was good and I love these people lots and lots. I didn't want to get up this morning. *sigh* {*thank you, The Breakfast Club}
