NO, NOT THE PETER GABRIEL SONG! I don't like to keep people in suspense, and today's song on my list of favorites with the word "big" in the title isn't that great song by Peter Gabriel. That one was considered, but it was cut from the final list. Sorry, Peter. I'll get you with the "things at Home Depot" countdown. Meanwhile, here's the song I am talking about. #7: Big Time - Webb Wilder & the Beatnecks And, how about that, it's Ian Hunter day! This was written by Ian Hunter (featured in John Roberts' countdown today with the classic "Cleveland Rocks") and originally recorded on his album with Mick Ronson, YUI Orta in 1990. I heard it first, though by one of my favorites, "swampadelic" roots rocker Webb Wilder, on his third album. And, although I like both versions, I'm highlighting Wilder's cover because...well, he is one of my favorites! Also, it's the subtle difference: the Hunter/Ronson Band original will definitely appeal to people who like a harder sound, while Wilder's version, while still rock and roll, has less "oomph." It's a great song about the people in rock and roll not blessed with "pretty boy" looks ("if you're fat, if you're bald, don't matter at all, because you're never to small to make the big time"). It's a little on the humorous side, which isn't unusual for either Ian Hunter or Webb Wilder. I hope you enjoy this. And, as the song says, "turn it up loud." Big Time Written by Ian Hunter Recorded by Webb Wilder & the Beatnecks From Doo Dad, 1991 (originally recorded on YUI Orta by the Hunter-Ronson Band, 1990) One more rose at my feet:

Awesome! Good old fashioned barroom rock and roll (although Peter Gabriel would have been acceptable as well!)
