The first album from the 'Mk III' lineup of the band after Ian Gillan (vocals) and Roger Glover (bass) left.
Their replacements would be Glenn Hughes (bass\vocals) and David Coverdale (vocals).
A very strong album...Ritchie Blackmore's guitar still shines through, and the keyboard prowess of Jon Lord and furious drumming of Ian Paice are like they always were.
Hughes and Coverdale pretty much equally shared vocal duties on 6 out of 8 songs (one song being an instrumental) with Coverdale being the only vocalist for one of them, the bluesy 'Mistreated'.
Listening to this, it is hard to believe this is the same guy that would sing vocals for Whitesnake's 'Still of The Night' (and be their lead vocalist for all of Whitesnake's albums).

coverdale supposedly had a big abcess/cyst up his nose removed..could be why he sounds different now.serious.
