Picture courtesy of google. It was a novel set into motion picture of the same title. The movie was released half a century ago, in 1968, a tumultuous time when Russia, China, etcetera, were asserting superiority for world domination. But the movie was not about world politics nor cold war, the movie was about one priest incarcerated for two decades in a Russian prison, released, and was anointed Cardinal by the Pope when he got to Rome. As it happened, the Pope died, and the College of Cardinals was beckoned, from around the world, to a Conclave, to elect a new Pope. The election was conducted six times, to no avail, until one Cardinal manifested his nomination of the prisoner to the Papacy. The Shoes of the Fisherman, a Catholic movie every Catholic must see. And Christians, too, who call themselves born again, for this was the movie that declared the personal relationship to our God.

When the movie ended, I was craving for more. The intellect was titillated. Thoughts were spoken in actions. Words became wits in the discerning and defining moments. Fifty years ago, the world was in turmoil. As intense as what we have at present. Makes one wonder what has happened that duration in time that man's predicament remains the same.
