West Hartford Firefighter Lt. Jarrad Smith had the assistance of a thermal camera to locate a Dachshund who was on the second floor of a burning home on Monday evening in West Hartford Connecticut. West Hartford Assistant Fire Chief Michael Sinsigali received an emergency telephone call from the owners of a house that a fire started in a fireplace on the first floor of the home. When the firefighters arrived at the home when two adults were able to leave the burning home but their pet dog was inside the home on the second floor of a three story home. Smith was able to find the Dachshund on the first floor despite the thick smoke in the area. Smith wrapped the dog in a warm blanket, he was able to get the dog out of the home safely and return him to his owners. Battalion Chief John Griffin reported the news that the fire destroyed all three floors of the home that was built in the 1930s. Even though the house was damaged, at least everyone came out safe and sound which is a good deal.

I thank the Lord that people care enough to rescue pets too. I can get over losing my possessions, but I don't know if I could get over getting out of a fire without my dog.
