Whew! My list and rankings for my countdown of my favorite bands with a color in their name was inadvertently thrown away while I was in the hospital, so I've spent a few days wracking my brain, trying to remember what bands placed where. We are at #8: Red Lorry Yellow Lorry. Led by vocalist/guitarist Chris Reed, Red Lorry Yellow Lorry formed in Leeds, England, in 1981. While they are often classified as a goth band, the group itself more closely identifies as a post punk band, despite their dark sound, which is very similar to Joy Division (put it this way. Remember when bands like Interpol made waves for bringing back the Joy Division sound? Red Lorry Yellow Lorry were doing Joy Division years before doing so was trendy.) Either way, the Lorries, as they are also known, are extremely underrated. Early on, the band did, despite their odd name, achieve some success, taking advantage of the support of BBC Radio host John Peel, recording two in studio sessions for the late, influential DJ. Oddly, these were released as BBC Sessions, rather than as part of the popular Peel Sessions series. Red Lorry Yellow Lorry is also notable for losing their drummer, Mick Brown, who left the band to become the original drummer for The Mission. Definitely one of those bands that has always deserved more recognition than they've received. (If only for the name info verified by Wikipedia)
Right off the vynil rip of RLYL. Lryics: Well you keep coming up to me, You keep saying that it's up to me. You ain't nothing but a true embrace. You ain't n...

It's quite a change up from my usual Barry Manilow inspired fare.

@teamfreak16 Oh awesome, not many can say that anymore. Will have to look into this band further. I have a hard time with bands that do not play anymore and like the ones that are active. So this is neat to hear.

@crossbones27 - Of course, Chris Reed is the only original member at this point.

They aren't very well known outside of alternative music circles.

Yes, a lorry is a British big rig. And I am feeling much better, thank you.
