I have always wondered whether this is true or not. I just want to know what you guys have to say about this.

One of the negatives of using social media sites like You Tube and Facebook is that there are always a few idiots who get their kicks of making statements that are offensive that I have to report them for bullying.

@faithhhyyy I know what you mean because I do not expect to be called a "retard" just for asking a simple question or make a kind comment.

@Deepizzaguy That's the one thing I hate about the internet. People will judge others just to make a point but in real life, they will not own up to their mistakes.

Probably. I would say it is not helping these younger generations.

They keep comparing their lives and got envy for what they don't have so yes it can affect self-esteem.

Is there anything that we can all do to stop trying to compare ourselves to others?

@faithhhyyy Lessen using different social media platforms. Learn appreciate what you have and be thankful every day. Do you use social media every day?

@rheicel I do not use social media every day because I am grounded rn. When I do use them I mostly use Snapchat and that is it.

It is possible it can. People tend to pour out themselves in the social media to get attention to boost their self-esteem.

Is that why other people pour their daily lives on social media to get attention?

There is a great amount of cyber bullying on social media sites, so in that regard a person's self esteem can plummet. There is also alot of negative posts by people who only want to complain about their lives. This can bring others down. I'm taking a break from FaceBook because my newsfeed is always littered with negative posts. Some people with low self esteem only want attention.

I will admit that I struggle too with Social media. The fact that other people will brag and taunt on these platforms makes me sick to my stomach.

@faithhhyyy Those are the ones who are insecure with themselves. Dont make their problem your own.

I am 28 years old and I experienced all the technology there is now, the first color phones the first sites of friends online etc., and anyway my friends and I when we were together played cards went to the forest to see the animals and other things all together, now young people do not even know what it means to be together without an object in their hands,

I like this. I find that when my mom takes away my phone it is a blessing because I find myself not on social media and it helps me cleanse my mind.
