Just learned something new about this album - 'Light My Fire' was released at the wrong speed, evidently. While the album jacket states the song is 6:50 long, it plays at 7:09. For some unexplained reason, all versions of this (except the 45) up to the 40th anniversary edition are about 3.5% 'slow'. The song is evidently written a half-step/key higher than what is heard on the previous releases. This album has been awarded 4x Platinum (for sales of 4,000,000) in the US, with an estimated 20,000,000 sold world-wide. Not bad for a bunch of stoners, eh? The Doors - The Doors
"Light My Fire" is a song originally performed by The Doors which was recorded in August 1966 and released the first week of January 1967. It spent three wee...

Mine is a second-pressing copy with the original gold label, I also have a newer one from the mid-80's with the red Elektra label.

@JolietJake I just checked. Mine has the red label, so I must have bought it later. Is the fidelity about the same?

They didn't play it faster live, they played it the same speed as always...it's probably like with the Miles Davis album 'Some Kind of Blue'...the tape machine they used to make the final record was slightly off-speed from the machine it was originally recorded on

One of the best songs by Doors. But the first song by Doors I listened to was Roadhouse Blues .(Included as a sound track in the movie ''Girl interrupted''.)

I like most of their stuff, but a few songs are rather hard to listen to in my opinion.

That's interesting info. I have this album. I think the same thing happened with early releases of Miles Davis's Kind of Blue album (1959).

Yep, that is one that is well-known for the off-speed pressings. I have an original mono copy of it.
