Will you agree to patch up with your ex?

One of my friends have recently got into an affair with her ex after breaking up with him for 5years. They were deeply in love before that. But, due to the boy's suspicious nature, the girl had to end up the relationship. In the meanwhile, the girl went to another relationship but now they're parted. Though I don't know about the boy. I felt very strange when she whatsapp me regarding her new relationship with her ex. I couldn't understand how she could trust her again. What you will do if you were in her place?

If the reason or cause for the break-up remains then it would be futile to "patch up" a relationship because the outcome would be the same.
