Hey, I am a 43 year old mother of 4. My 11 year old daughter was just diagnosed in late February of this year. They gave her a Low-Residue diet. Basically you need to stay away from anything with a shell, or seed. Some examples are peas, corn, any kind of nuts, strawberries, whole grain things like oatmeal. My daughter is still in a flare-up, but she has been staying away from the NO-NO foods, and I really think they help. No fresh fruit either. The NO-NO foods are ones that have something in them that could get caught in the intestines and cause another flare-up of inflammation. Other ones off the top of my head are....oranges (the pulp) that includes orange juice, even fruit jams and marmalades, lettuce, tomatoes, sesame seeds, pickles, poppy seeds, onions. She can eat beans, but only if they are cooked. I think pickles was the killer for her. She has loved them since she was a toddler. Now she has one, instead of 3 and cuts out the seeds and then she will eat the salt and vinegar potato chips, that seems to give her the taste she needs for that craving. Anymore info you need about a specific food, just let me know. I can probably tell you. Just hard to remember them all off the top of my head. Hope this helps
