I can not express strongly enough how amazing this movie is. I was expecting your usual Christian movie, but it far exceeded my expectations. The acting was amazing. Dennis Quaid, of course, was amazing. Trace Adkins and Cloris Leachman did their usual great job. J. Micheal Finley was wonderful as Bart (the leading role). Priscilla Shier had a small role, but added so much. She was totally believable and inspiring. The thing I loved best about the movie is it portrayed real life. It revealed the battles Christians face. It chronicled the baggage that Christians carry that keep them from being where and becoming who God wants them to be. That honest representation allows the viewer to identify. The story goes on to reveal the grace and mercy and patience of a God who truly cares for us. He cares enough to exercise tough love, but He also cares enough to redeem and restore. Then He gives us the privilege of serving Him. The movie was real, not a flowery Christian project. It convicted and inspired me.
