As Good As New, And I Got Them For Free!!!!

Yesterday morning my husband decided to take a little walk around the grounds of our apartment complex. While he was out there, he happened upon a set of chairs, that someone wanted to throw out. Knowing something about the quality of furniture, he tested them. He sat on each one, tested the legs, looked over the cushions, and decided that they would be perfect for our apartment. What's more, they were in the colours that we wanted. Not wanting to make a decision without me, he came back up here, and told me all about them. They sounded pretty good, so I asked him to bring them up. He grabbed our hand truck and wheeled them up in the elevator. As luck would have it, they're in perfect condition! It seems that the one who tossed them out probably just wanted to upgrade, and maybe go for a different colour, or style. My husband jokes that such people may have more money than brains. This is bsed on the fact that folks in our income bracket had better be satisfied with what we have, because there's no way we can afford to upgrade, just for the sake of upgrading. I joked back that for those of us with "more brains than money," such people are an asset, as they are constantly throwing out good stuff.

One of the reasons why I've always had problems wiwth thrift stores and used goods is because I know how I am (use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without), so why would I want something that's USED UP? It wasn't until my husband started bringing home things in nearly new condition, that I realied that there's something to this whole business of freecycling. We've gotten a ton of good stuff that way. Five TV sets, two computer monitors, four kitchen chairs, several storage solutions, a grill, and the list goes on. We also have a number of Freecycles in town who grow vegetables, and if they have too many, they offer them up for free to locals. We've gotten all kinds of vegetables and fruit that way.

So, what are your thoughts on freecycling, and how do you like my new chairs? :)

I think it is good as long as they can still function well. Is freecycling free at all or you need to pay a little amount of money?

Freecyclying is free, otherwise it wouldn't be called FREEcycling!

@BarBaraPrz hahaha. How stupid of me.
Just wondering because sometimes people would say it is free but charge you with whatever.

Nice chairs. I hope you don't find a notice in the lobby saying someone had their chairs stolen...
Several years ago, my friend got a free turkey through the Hamilton Freecycle... people had thawed it, then decided the weather was too hot to use the oven in their tiny third-floor apartment.
