Filip Forsberg scored twice and Nashville goalie Pekka Rinne came up huge on a couple of saves as the Predators defeated the Colorado Avalanche 5-2 in game one of the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, in Nashville. The two teams were evenly matched through the first two periods, entering the 3rd period tied at two. Forsberg, however, found the back of the net with a redirect off the shaft of his stick for the game winner. Call that a lucky goal if you like, but those things happen in the playoffs. Forsberg's second goal, however, was absolutely sick, a highlight goal that you are sure to see on Sportscenter later (you can see it now. I've linked to it below.) It was an intense, entertaining game. The worst team in the league last season, and sporting a roster with very little playoff experience, the Avalanche controlled much of the game, although they were out hit by Nashville, the best team in the NHL during the regular season, 2-1. If Colorado can continue to play the way they did tonight, this could end up being an interesting series. Colorado goals were scored by Nikita Zadorov (assists: Rantanen, MacKinnon,) and Blake Comeau (Soderberg, Nieto.) Nashville goals: Austin Watson (Sissons, Johansen,) Craig Smith (Power Play) (Johansen,) Filip Forsberg (Josi, Arvidsson,) Forsberg (unassisted,) and Colton Sissons (Empty Net) (Watson.) Game two is Saturday afternoon in Nashville.
Filip Forsberg makes an amazing deke between his own legs to beat an Avalanche defender and finishes for an unbelievable goal, giving the Predators a two-goa...

The wrong team won, but it was a great game. I am kind of obsessed with hockey.

I'm obviously not rooting for them, but I have them going to the finals again this year.

If the Avalanche split in Nashville, they are in good shape.

I hope they can. They played really good hockey tonight, they just lost. Rinne made a couple of spectacular saves.
