How to get a free holiday.

My younger son lives on the Gold Coast, around 2000 kms from me. He and his lady have a full house, with their own adult daughter still at home and 3 small foster kids, so I can't stay with them when I go up to visit. In the past I have stayed with a friend who lives fairly close to them, but she has been very ill, so when I go up later this year I don't want to bother her. This means that I have to find somewhere to stay if I want to visit my son and his family.
As those of you who follow me know, I regularly do house/pet sitting for my friends in the local area, so I thought, Why not extend that for a holiday? I have signed up with a housesitting site. It costs $84 to join, which is less than it would cost for one night of accommodation in a hotel, and then you simply find a listing that suits you and apply to be their sitter. House sits can be anything from a few days to several months, and for that time you have free accommodation whilst the homeowner has someone looking after his/her home and pets. A real win/win situation.

House/pet sitting is something that I did when younger, sometimes with my husband, sometimes on my own. We were in great demand as horses were our speciality and not everyone knows how to look after them. Good luck with finding a suitable place close to your son.
