Participating in debate or keep quiet?

Keeping the peace by not participating in debate means you prefer to stay out of conflicts. I participate in debates if the topic is interesting for me. But, I don't argue. I just tell them what I feel is right.
What do you like to do? Do you participate actively in debates?

This depends. If I know I have a strong defense, I would debate since I have all the facts. But if it is something that I know will keep me on the low side, I keep my peace.

I would not participate in public debates, but I like to speak up when I´m with friends.
