Rehashed Posts

I did not know we were allowed to post duplicate posts here on mylot. I have come across a couple that are the same, just a few changes in wording. I guess if you are passionate about a topic, it is beneficial, like journaling. I know we can post about different aspects of the same topic, but to post an almost identical thread??? That almost seems like a form of plagiarism. Oh well, this isn't college or professional assignments, so I guess it doesn't matter. I guess stressing over this is the teacher in me.

I find this rather lazy to do so, to post the same topic using different words. How lazy can one be? There is so little required of us here in myLot, and surely it does not take that much effort to think of something to write, something different each time. Even if it is allowed, it is a shame to resort to it.
And of course plagiarism is out.

Sometimes, a post is double-posted in error, I have done this accidentally whilst refreshing my browser window... Easy fixed, just delete one of the two. If you're talking about identical posts by different people, one of the twitter is clearly copying the other. Off to read what situations and advice other responders have given...

I agree with you that reposting something (perhaps in the hopes of getting more attention for the topic the second time around) is something which, I believe, @goaskalice has already said that he doesn't approve of.
I think that, if you see any posts like this you should use the 'report' button to bring them to Admin's attention (or perhaps it would be better to send him a PM with the URLs of both posts). He will then deal with them as he sees fit, usually by clarifying the issue with the person concerned.
@MALUSE has given you the link to Admin's post about 'recycled content' and I agree that that is not quite what you are referring to here. Although it's maybe not a 'discussable' topic (in the sense that it's a matter of Admin policy, not one of 'general opinion'), it's certainly one worth airing so that others can be informed about it!

are you saying one member (ex. member A) posting the same topic but just changing the words? or member B copying member A's post, changed a few words, then submitted that discussion under their name?

The same person making the same post, just changing a couple of words. Even the title is almost word for word. It would be like me making this same posts in a few months. I am not trying to stir anything up. I just noticed that and was seeking clarification.
