It's time for #49b, the cover, in my Play it Again, Sam music series: a cover of The Rolling Stones' "Wild Horses" by The Sundays.
Fronted by the beautiful voice of Harriet Wheeler, The Sundays were a dream pop band that formed in London in 1988, releasing three albums before breaking up in 1997. They are best known for their alternative hit "Here's Where the Story Ends." Oh, and their cover of "Wild Horses."
Appearing on the US release of their 1992 album, Blind, "Wild Horses" was originally released as the B-Side of their single, "Goodbye." Oddly, I'd be willing to bet that most people remember the cover than they do the actual single.
The Sundays' version was used in the movie, Fear, and appears on the soundtrack for the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. A Budweiser commercial was also built around it.
A bit more dreamy than the Stones' original, The Sundays'. cover is one that, if you haven't already heard it, you definitely need to.

I definitely remember the B side song more than I do the A side! I was actually just playing this song yesterday.

I like it when that happens. Sometimes someone posts a song that I've been listening to or had in my head.

@spiderdust - I love Cocteau Twins. Simon Raymonde used to produce a former Denver band, The Czars.

@teamfreak16 I think I was in a dreampop mood then. I was playing some Cocteau Twins too.

Really? I wonder if it's more known over here, maybe because it was included on the US release.

It's interesting when the cover is more popular than the original. For a second I thought you meant the U2 song, though technically that is "Who's Gonna Ride your wild horses"

I don't think anyone has covered that one, as far as I know.
