The holy book says it will come a time that women will be pleading with a single man to just bear his name and I wonder if God is for polygamy but this act would be reduced if polygamy is encouraged and women wouldn't have to go through that. What do you think about this?

I don't believe the Bible or God is encouraging polygamy. Especially since God advocates one husband/one wife. What is being referred to is there will come a time when the ratio for men to women will be such that there will be more women than men, and they will beg the man to give them his name, not that it is condoned.

If you look at the societies where polygamy has been allowed, you will find that they have usually been ones where there is a long-term shortage of eligible men because they are killed more often either in constant battles with neighbouring tribes or in hunting or other dangerous pursuits. In other words, polygamy begins as a biological necessity and ends up being a status symbol (for men, at least).
In most societies in the world today, we try to discourage warfare and hunting is now mostly a recreation rather than a necessity, and the norm is for there to about the same number of men as women, therefore polygamy is not a neccessity and should not be encouraged.

i think it shouldn't be encouraged because it causes women to hate each other and it causes conflicts.
