Ecstatic, that is how I feel right now. I am so proud that a Filipino has cupped that Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting. Why? Two reasons: 1. the last time a Filipino won was in 1942, and that was the great Carlos P. Romulo, 2. the Pulitzer is for Americans, and yay, a Pinoy squeezed in. Manuel Mogato, or Manny, contends it was a team effort, and credits all Filipino journalists who kept watch all the longs nights when the drug war commenced. It was only by accident that he received confirmation about the order to kill. The retired police officer was reluctant to divulge the order, wary of the situation. It took him a fortnight to agree, thus the reporting that merited the prize. The war on drugs was not a subject one would like to have won a prize for, but it did. Proved that this journalist deserves the accolade.

Thank you. Manny Mogato, as he is called, is one who incessantly goes about his leads. He has a nose for things important. Yup, he deserves it. That award will not get recognition from our Malacanyang Palace.

@eileenleyva Why not ? Your president assumes these murders. Makes me think that I have not read anything about him since several months here. When it comes to people like Dutertre, no news, good news, I guess.

@eileenleyva What also bugs me is that the "creature" has a French name. I hope it is from Flanders and that there were no French involved. When will you have your next presidential election ? Alright for MoGato.

He was surprised. Did not expect it ever. He said he was just like the next reporter who stake the night for a report. Wow. I know he deserves it. Filipino writers or journalists are very keen when they write reports. Silvermist, my error, the name is Mogato.

@silvermist Thank you. Yes, I am sure many of our journalists are dreaming of the same acclamation now. It is incumbent upon them to write better from this day on. Manny Mogato is indeed an inspiration.
