I met a friend in a Starbucks and bought the man a cup of coffee and we talked.

Before the big news broke out about arresting two black men who were waiting for someone for a meeting in a Starbucks, I had no idea such crazy stuff happened.
I go to get coffee at an in store Starbucks in a Target Store. I have no problem sitting down for a while, sipping on a coffee, that is one of my things to do, while my wife did her shopping. I couldn't just follow her around the store so I would go directly to Starbucks and order a coffee and sit and take my time at it.
But, this nice black man, who was just another fellow human being on the face of earth, who was down on his luck and wanted a coffee so I struck up a conversation with him and ordered him a coffee so we could chat to pass the time.
Nothing happened. I didn't even think about it. The barista is a black person and very nice to everyone, friendly and respectful of everyone, and I wonder how long this kind of racial profiling is going to last? If it had happened to two white guys, would the same results occur from it? I mean, does it matter who the person is? Everyone is supposed to be free to buy a coffee anywhere in the USA or is this concept too strange for some people to grasp?
today on the news I see what happened when two black men were taken out in hand cuffs just because they didn't want to order a coffee the exact second they had a seat in the Starbucks. That was just plain bad for business. I would have fired the person who placed that 911 call if I was the owner of that particular coffee shop.
But I have friends who are biased and would argue about it with me. But I wanted to set things straight here, as far as I'm concerned, if a man wants to have a seat and wait a while before ordering a coffee at a Starbucks, I don't care if he's black, white or blue or red or purple, a person, a human being, should not be treated like a criminal. Even the other customers of Starbucks would be opposed to that kind of treatment by an barista to a potential customer at Starbucks.
As for going in a restaurant just to use the restroom and not bothering to order anything, should be up to the individual discretion of the person in charge. I usually order a coffee or something even if I don't want it, just because the nearest bathroom might be 10 miles down the road. Usually places don't even give you any problem if you have to use their restrooms. In any case, it would be more proper to order something in return for the use of a public restroom in a restaurant.

People can be shallow at times. They don't accept people who come from different economic or even cultural backgrounds. I don't know what's wrong with their thinking. No one is above anyone this i believe. And if we can only be a little friendly then maybe we can make a difference. If others are not then maybe we can start in ourselves.
