THE NEW FACE OF BULLYING As discussed in an earlier post, bullying is nothing new. It began in Genesis with Cain bullying his brother Abel and eventually killing him. Bullying comes in many forms. There is cultural, institutional, social, family, power-centered, retaliating, and provocative forms of bullying. However, with the expansion of technology and rise of social media, bullying has been taken to a whole new level. Cyber-bullying is the fastest growing form of bullying. There are some professionals and parents who still do not see this as a form of danger. “Cyber-bullying takes a number of forms, such as sending insulting, rude or threatening messages, spreading rumors, revealing personal information, publishing embarrassing pictures, or exclusion from online communication.” (Perren, S., 2012, P. 284). In order to remedy this problem, one must be able to define what types of cyber bullying is actually abusive and what kinds are just dramatic posts that could be ignored. What are your thoughts? Is cyber-bullying a thing? Is it blown out of proportion? Should it be ignored or addressed? If addressing, when should law enforcement be contacted or legal ramifications employed?

I think if all the parents teach their kids how to get on well with others when they are little. Bullying will be less and less when the children grow up.

True, bullying has been around a long time. I wonder what bullys think they will gain. I think that if there are threats - then legal action should be taken. However happily there is "block" features on almost all social media. If the antagonistic behavior continues -- I think that it should be reportable and that the person should lose access to their account either short term or long term
