Basic sentence structure
1. I am a man of means by no means, king of the road.
That sentence is from the lyrics of a song. But it can be broken down into separate meanings so I will try to make it simple.
I am a man. - A very short sentence. starting with I, meaning first person, singular - followed by am, a verb from the list of verbs, (am,is,was, were, be, being, been)
present tense, talking about it today. I am. If the sentence started with I was a man, then that would mean that I was no longer a man but an alien or an ape or a transgender female, but this is getting too complicated already.
I am a man of means, translation: I am a wealthy man. I have money. I have a way of earning money and so on.
But when you put it like, I am a man of means, by no means, actually translates into saying: I am a man who is broke and has no money. And being king of the road, means the man is a drifter, a wanderer, a nomad or a gypsy. Taken in context, from that song, the man is a hitch hiker, taking jobs as he finds them and goes from one town to another and as such the man has no real roots or stable income or stable life.
Here is a link to that song with the lyrics to it for you to read and get the most out of the song's meaning.

The song really takes me back like taking a time machine and when I close my eyes it's the 60s all over again. I actually live in a home that still looks like I am living in the 60s. But when I look out the window I see things are changing. But I remain living in the past. It's just me, I guess, I am up on the internet all the time but still I am living in the 60s and 70s. Cause those were the best days in memory.

@lookatdesktop Old days were the days when life was good. Today there are so many unfortunate events. I miss the old days

I still like it and wonder if many younger ones actually heard it at all. Doubt it.

I guess that is why music is cool because we all can get our own meaning and definition out of each song. I personally love the term nomad, but do not care for Gypsy. I guess because that has to do with how society views each term. I personally have no issues with Gypsies, but know society in general is quite hateful towards them, where nomads society kind of thinks of them as just a free spirited people who live life on their terms.
I can see how you can get confused buddy. Cool song.
