It's cover time in this morning's Play it Again, Sam. #38b is one near and dear to my heart, as they are one of my favorite bands: Frankie Goes to Hollywood's cover of Dionne Warwick's "Do You Know the Way to San Jose."
Recorded as "San Jose (The Way,)" the song appeared on the band's wildly successful (and extremely hyped) 1984 debut album, Welcome to the Pleasuredome. On a double album chock full of songs about oral sex and anti-war protest tunes, "San Jose" was a bit of an oddity, and yet the album just wouldn't feel the same without it.
"San Jose" was not released as a single, as there were a few extremely strong songs that filled that need, led by the notorious hit, "Relax" (possibly the most instantly recognizable song from the 80's.) In fact, it wouldn't surprise me to find out that the band recorded the song just for fun more than anything else.
Whatever the reason "San Jose" is just one more example of the glory that was Frankie!

I forgot. A very low key laid back faithful rendition.

Definitely a lot different than "Relax!"

Okay, so Frankie Goes to San Jose instead. Amazing cover.

You probably heard "Relax" at some point in the 80's:

I am intrigued, but will have to listen a bit later, since my daughter is here today to drop off the puppy and is working remotely on her laptop. I missed a lot of the strictly pop music of the 80s.

I hope you like it. They remained fairly faithful to the original.
