The rejection of the elevation of Justice K.Joseph to the supreme court has once again revived the question as to who should judge the merit of a judge, the collegium composed of senior judges or the Government at the ahead of the executive. The introduction of norm like territorial representation is not substantial to the selection which should be on the basis of merit. The action of the Government, I think, is not going to set up a healthy precedent for an egalitarian state like India.

Welcome to mylot . Justice joseph is clear headed and fearless judge. His moves are perceived to be anti bjp. The people should demand a strong judiciary. Are there any protest going on ?

In my reckoning, there is no one as yet.
